In the past few days, there’s been a lot of talk about freedom. Everybody has their own definition of freedom, but what does it really mean to you? Are you walking in your freedom?
I want to acknowledge Juneteenth today, because it is the day that the last slaves in Texas found out that they were free. They tell me that the slaves were supposed to have been free for two years, but they weren’t told until this day in 1865.
I’m glad that I learned about this day because of what freedom means to our people. We weren’t taught about this day in school and a lot of us are just learning about the day and what it means today. We’re only learning it because of everything that is going on in the world today. That’s a shame!
This is exactly how the enemy operates! The second we know we’re free, he no longer has power over us. So, what does he do? He hides our freedom from us. We walk around bound by sickness, financial struggles, and generational curses because we don’t know we’re free. There’s power in knowing that you are free and declaring it! Make it a habit to claim your freedom out loud. Claim freedom from sickness and disease. Claim freedom from generational curses. Claim freedom from financial struggles. It says in John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Jesus, the Son, gave his life for our freedom, so why would be continue to walk around in bondage?
Be blessed and walk in freedom!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Vivian D. Norwood
